FSU's Campbell, GVSU's Carroll & Cribley Capture GLIAC Football Player of the Week Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the second Saturday of the 2018 football season. Ferris State junior quarterback Jayru Campbell earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Grand Valley State senior defensive end Dylan Carroll captured GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition along with Grand Valley State senior punter Collin Cribley who claimed GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week accolades.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jayru Campbell - Ferris State

Ferris State University junior quarterback Jayru Campbell had a huge day in the ninth-ranked Bulldogs' decisive 59-13 win over #19 Findlay on Saturday night at Top Taggart Field. Campbell accounted for five touchdowns and more than 300 yards of total offense for the second-straight week in the win. He completed 14-of-21 passes for 242 yards and three scores while running for a team-high 96 yards on 14 carries with two TD's. He completed a 74-yard TD pass and also ran for a long run of 43 yards. Campbell's play helped FSU bolt out to a 24-0 halftime edge as the Bulldogs cruised to the win while netting 545 yards of total offense.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Dylan Carroll - Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State senior defensive end Dylan Carroll recorded a career, single-game high 13 total tackles (8 solo/5 assisted) in the #8 Lakers 21-10 road win at Delta State. Carroll added a team-high three tackles for loss (-8) and a QB sack in the non-conference win. GVSU tallied 17 tackles for loss, six QB sacks (-32), forced 10 punts and allowed just one touchdown for the second consecutive game.


SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Collin Cribley - Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State senior punter Collin Cribley averaged 45.3 yards on 12 punts in the Lakers 21-10 road win at Delta State. Cribley punted into a brisk wind five times in the first quarter from deep in GVSU territory, but was able to keep the Delta State average starting field position on their own 35 yard line. Cribley had a long punt of 61 yards.
