GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the fifth Saturday of the 2018 football season. Ferris State junior quarterback Jayru Campbell earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season, while Saginaw Valley senior linebacker Michael Alexander captured GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition along with Davenport junior wide receiver Nate Couturier who claimed GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week accolades.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jayru Campbell - Ferris State

Ferris State University redshirt junior quarterback Jayru Campbell had another big day in helping lift the fourth-ranked Bulldogs to a 28-21 triumph over visiting Ashland in the NCAA Division II Showcase National Game of the Week on Saturday (Sept. 29) at Top Taggart Field. Campbell accounted for 383 total yards and three scores in the game as the Bulldogs improved to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in league action. He completed 19-of-26 passes for 272 yards and two scores while also running for a game-high 111 yards on 31 carries with a TD. Campbell led FSU on a pair of key third-quarter scoring drives, capping the final one with a 23-yard keeper for a score.

Saginaw Valley senior linebacker Michael Alexander accumulated 13 tackles on the road as the Cardinals posted a 10-0 shutout victory over Michigan Tech. Alexander led the SVSU defense that picked-off three passes, recovering a fumble on a muffed punt and coming up with five stops on fourth down conversion attempts while sealing the deal to move the Cardinals to 5-0 for the first time since 2003.
