Ferris State's Campbell & Stephenson, Michigan Tech's Zeboor Claim GLIAC Football Player of the Week Accolades

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the seventh Saturday of the 2018 football season. Ferris State junior quarterback Jayru Campbell earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the fourth time this season, while Ferris State University junior Delon Stephenson captured GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition along with Michigan Tech freshman Eric Zeboor who claimed GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week accolades.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jayru Campbell - Ferris State

Ferris State University junior quarterback Jayru Campbell led the third-ranked Bulldogs to a thrilling 35-31 win over archrival and second-ranked Grand Valley State on Saturday night before a crowd of more than 16,000 fans in the Anchor-Bone Classic at Lubbers Stadium in Allendale. Campbell accounted for four touchdowns and totaled more than 300 yards in the win as FSU rallied from a 10-point second half deficit. The junior standout ran for a game-high 101 yards on 32 carries and a score while also throwing for 229 yards and two TD's. In addition, he caught the game-winning 31-yard touchdown pass on a key fourth down throwback pass with only 3:11 remaining in the game. All told, Campbell played a hand in every offensive touchdown for the Bulldogs as FSU beat GVSU for the seventh time in the last nine matchups.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Delon Stephenson - Ferris State

Ferris State University junior Delon Stephenson played a big role in helping the third-ranked Bulldogs to a thrilling 35-31 win over archrival and second-ranked Grand Valley State on Saturday night. Stephenson picked off two passes in the game and both came at key times in the contest. His first came on a 52-yard pick six interception return late in the third quarter and gave FSU a 28-24 lead in the game. Then, his second came in the final minutes and preserved the win. After a late FSU score, the Lakers drove into FSU territory to the 29-yard line, but Stephenson picked off a pass to give the Bulldogs the victory. Stephenson also had four tackles and a tackle for loss in the triumph while helping the FSU defense limit GVSU to only 34 yards rushing on 19 carries.


SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Eric Zeboor - Michigan Tech

Michigan Tech freshman Eric Zeboor had his best performance of the season on Saturday with a career high and career long field goal makes in Tech's 23-20 win over Wayne State. Zeboor connected on 3 of 4 field goal attempts and both of his extra points and averaged 58.6 yards on kickoffs with one touchback. With the game tied 20-20, Zeboor made what would be the game winning field goal from 34 yards out with 5:49 to play in the fourth quarter. Earlier in the contest, Zeboor made a career long 43-yard attempt. In total, he scored 11 of Tech's points in the win and added a potential TD saving tackle on a kickoff return. On the season, Zeboor is 6 for 9 in field goal attempts, 15 of 16 on extra points,
