Ferris State's Campbell, Ashland's Reichelderfer & Grand Valley State's Dodson Earn GLIAC Football Player of the Week Distinction

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the ninth Saturday of the 2018 football season. Ferris State University junior quarterback Jayru Campbell earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the fifth time this year, while Ashland University junior stud Tristan Reichelderfer captured GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition along with Grand Valley State University senior wide receiver Nick Dodson who claimed GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week accolades.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jayru Campbell - Ferris State

Ferris State University junior quarterback Jayru Campbell accounted for five touchdowns in Saturday's 38-28 win over Wayne State for the second-ranked Bulldogs at Top Taggart Field. Campbell helped FSU rally from a 28-24 third quarter deficit to improve to 9-0 overall. He completed 17-of-30 passes for 224 yards and three scores while running for a game-high 103 yards on 19 carries and two TD's. His play helped the offense roll up more than 500 yards in the home victory. Campbell scored on a 57-yard TD run along with a 15-yard carry for the go-ahead score in the third and also tossed a pair of TD passes to Dion Earls along with an eight-yard throw to Miles Jones in the fourth period of action.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tristan Reichelderfer - Ashland

In a 31-6 win at Davenport, Ashland University junior stud Tristan Reichelderfer racked up eight total tackles, 1½ sacks, 2½ tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a pass breakup. Reichelderfer paced a total team defensive effort which ended with the Eagles allowing six points, nine first downs and 149 yards of total offense, while recording six sacks, nine tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, a fumble-recovery touchdown and seven pass breakups.


SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Nick Dodson - Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State senior wide receiver Nick Dodson returned a punt 83 yards for a touchdown in the Lakers’ 31-28 victory at Saginaw Valley State. Dodson’s punt return in the first quarter were the first points of the game and gave No. 9 GVSU a lead they were never relinquish. Dodson returned two punts for 94 yards, while catching seven passes for 68 yards and a long reception of 28 yards. Dodson has 48 catches for 802 yards and eight TDs receiving.
