GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following week five of the 2019 football season. Ashland junior wide receiver Login Bolin garnered GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Saginaw Valley St. junior defensive back Marvin White earned GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition along with Northern Michigan freshman kick returner Tyquan Cox, who was awarded GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Login Bolin - Ashland

Junior wide receiver Logan Bolin has had an impressive last 36-plus hours. On Saturday (Oct. 5) night at Grand Valley State, Bolin caught the 52-yard Hail Mary pass that lifted Ashland University’s football team to a 20-17 win at No. 9-ranked Grand Valley State. On Monday (Oct. 7) morning, Bolin landed his first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week award. In addition to the game-winning grab, Bolin finished the night against the Lakers with three catches for 94 yards. Bolin leads the GLIAC in receptions this season with 24, and is tied for fourth in the league with 313 receiving yards. In the last two games, he has seven catches for 176 yards (25.1 ypc.) and a score. This is the second consecutive time an Ashland player has been named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week. In Week 4, freshman tailback Gei’vonni Washington earned the honor. Ashland (3-2 overall, 2-1 GLIAC) will return to Jack Miller Stadium/Martinelli Field on Saturday (Oct. 12) at 1 p.m. for the Eagles’ 96th Homecoming Game vs. Davenport (3-1, 1-1).

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Marvin White - Saginaw Valley State

Junior defensive back Marvin White picked-off his second pass of the season and returned it 92 yards for a touchdown in SVSU's 55-29 Axe Bowl victory over Northwood. It was White's second pick-six of the 2019 season, adding to the one he had in week one at Texas A&M-Kingsville. Marvin added four tackles with a tackle-for loss in the victory and now has two GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors in 2019. Saginaw Valley leads the league with nine interceptions so far this season and ranks seventh in the nation.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tyquan Cox - Northern Michigan

Junior wide receiver Tyquan Cox gave NMU their first kickoff touchdown since 2016 when he took a kick back 99 yards for a touchdown.
