GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following week nine of the 2019 football season. Ferris State senior quarterback Travis Russell was awarded GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week, while Teammate Jackson Dieterle earned Special Teams Player of the Week, along with Ashland defensive end Tristan Reichelderfer who garnered GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Travis RussellFerris State

Ferris State University senior quarterback Travis Russell had a big day for the second-ranked Bulldogs as he led FSU to at least a share of the GLIAC Championship with a dominating 52-0 road win over Michigan Tech on a snowy field in Houghton. Russell got the start in place of the injured Jayru Campbell and completed 13-of-19 passes for 323 yards while accounting for three scores in the win at Sherman Field. He tossed a pair of long touchdowns with a 78-yarder to wideout Xavier Wade in the first half and a 73-yard toss to tailback Marvin Campbell in the third period. Russell's play helped FSU roll up 615 total yards as the Bulldogs moved to 9-0 this year. He picked up FSU's first score on the ground to cap a game-opening 83-yard march.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tristan Reichelderfer, Ashland

For the first time in 2019 and the second time in his career, Ashland University senior stud Tristan Reichelderfer has been named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. As announced by the GLIAC on Monday (Nov. 4) morning, Reichelderfer earned the honor following a game on Saturday (Nov. 2) afternoon at Saginaw Valley State in which he tied the Ashland single-game record of 3½ sacks originally set by College Football Hall of Famer Bill Royce at Wayne State on Oct. 2, 1993, and tied by James Prater Jr. against the same Cardinals on Nov. 11, 2017. In addition, Reichelderfer finished with a season-high 10 total tackles (six solo), a career-high 4½ tackles for loss and a forced fumble. Reichelderfer also earned GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 29, 2018.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jackson Dieterle, Ferris State

Ferris State senior kicker Jackson Dieterle played another big role as the second-ranked Bulldogs claimed at least a share of the GLIAC Championship with a dominating 52-0 road shutout over Michigan Tech under snowy conditions on Saturday (Nov. 2) at Sherman Field in Houghton. Deiterle accounted for 10 total points in the win and was perfect on the day despite the weather. He made all seven of his PAT tries, extending his national #1 ranking among active D2 players in extra point percentage, while also converting a 32-yard field goal into the snow late in the first half to increase FSU's lead to 24-0 at the break. Dieterle also kicked off nine times for 537 total yards, averaging 59.7 yards a kick with two touchbacks on the day.
