AU's Yates and WSU's Udanoh Named to the Daktronics, Inc. All-Midwest Region First Team

Ashland, Ohio -- Kentucky Wesleyan forward Anthony Young is the Daktronics, Inc. Midwest Region player of the year. The KWC standout was selected by a vote of sports information directors in the region. Young leads the five-player first team that includes Bellarmine guard Braydon Hobbs, Indianapolis guard Adrian Moss, Ashland forward Evan Yates and Wayne State center Ike Udanoh.

Those five players will be included on the national All-America ballot.  Voting for that team begins on Mar. 12.

Young, a first team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference selection, averages 19.9 ppg., and 7.8 rpg. He’s shooting 50.6 percent from the field.  The Panthers are 21-7 and in an accustomed spot – the NCAA Division II playoffs.

Yates leads the GLIAC in scoring (20.8 ppg.), rebounding (11.3 rpg.) and field goal percentage (.613).  He ranks fourth in the country in rebounds per game and double-doubles (17), is 10th in field goal percentage and 16th in scoring.

Udanoh was named All-GLIAC First Team and is also a member of the All-GLIAC Defensive Team.  He’s 16th in the country in rebounds per game (9.6) and posted 12 double-doubles. 

Hobbs is the GLVC Player of the Year and he is a second team selection on the Capital One Academic All-America Team. He also earned a spot on the GLVC All-Defensive Team.  Hobbs owns school records for career steals, assists, three-point field goals and games played. He ranks sixth nationally in assist-turnover ratio (2.94) and is seventh in three-point field goals per game (.455).  Hobbs averages 12.8 ppg. and is part of a Bellarmine team that is 25-3 and ranked fourth in the country.

Moss leads the GLVC in steals (2.07 spg.), is second in assists (5.15 apg.) and third in scoring (18.8 ppg.). He’s one of 10 players in NCAA Division II to record a triple double this season (18 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists vs. Wisconsin-Parkside).  Moss was named the GLVC player of the week three times this season.  The Greyhounds are 19-8 and are in the NCAA playoffs for the second consecutive year.    

The Midwest Region Second Team consists of six players this year due to a tie in the voting.
