KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Defending national champion Bellarmine, who has opened the 2011-12 season with five consecutive wins, heads up the first NABC/Division II regular season men’s basketball rankings of the campaign.

The Knights had road wins at Wayne State (Mich.) and Grand Valley State among those five wins to start the year as they prepare to open conference play this weekend.  Also opening league play this week are the next five teams in the poll -- No. 2 Missouri Southern, who won each of its first six contests; No. 3 Metropolitan State, who claimed its first five contests of the year; No. 4 Lincoln Memorial, off to a 6-0 start; No. 5 Southern Indiana, who is out of the gate at 4-0; and No. 6 Humboldt State, who won its first four outings of the season.

Alabama-Huntsville fell from second to seventh after a loss over the weekend to North Georgia, while Indiana (Pa.), Kentucky Wesleyan and Benedict all have undefeated marks as they complete the top 10.  Two more unbeaten squads, Colorado School of Mines and Georgia Southwestern, head up the second 10 and are followed by Findlay, West Liberty and Arkansas Tech.

Tarleton State checks in this week at No. 16, followed by Bowie State, Augustana, Seattle Pacific and Winona State, whose only setback was a four-point loss at Metro State.  The final five teams in the first regular season poll are Alaska-Anchorage (both losses to Division I opponents), Florida Southern (whose only loss came to Division I South Florida), Cal Poly Pomona, Fort Hays State and Rollins.
