Findlay Falls to No. 19 in the NABC Division II Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Teams from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and Great Lakes Valley Conference dominate the top end of the new NABC/Division II rankings, as schools from those two leagues hold five of the top six spots in the new poll.

Metropolitan State became the third team in as many weeks to take the top spot after last week’s No. 1-ranked team, Missouri Southern, suffered a loss at Missouri Western.  It marks the third time in the history of the Roadrunners’ program that it has been ranked first, the last time coming back on Jan. 18, 2005.

However, the Roadrunners were not a unanimous No. 1 pick, as the next three teams in the rankings also received first place votes this week.  Southern Indiana stayed undefeated and moved up to No. 2, while Lincoln Memorial, tied for third with USI last week, stays in the No. 3 spot.  A pair of GLVC teams, Kentucky Wesleyan – who got the last first place vote – and Bellarmine also moved up a spot as did RMAC member Colorado School of Mines.  Missouri Southern dropped from first to seventh this week as a result of its loss.

Humboldt State remains in the No. 8 spot this week and is followed by West Liberty and Rollins to round out the top 10.  Cal Poly Pomona begins the second team at No. 11, followed by Tarleton State, Indiana (Pa.), Augustana and Fort Hays State.  Winona State checks in at No. 16, with Georgia Southwestern, Alabama-Huntsville, Findlay and Bowie State completing this week’s top 20.

The final five teams in this week’s poll are Northern Kentucky, Alaska-Anchorage, Midwestern State, Arkansas Tech and Benedict.
