KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the 17th time in school history, Kentucky Wesleyan holds the top spot in the NABC/Division II men’s basketball rankings, as the Panthers completed the weekend as the last undefeated team in the Division II ranks to take over the top spot from Lincoln Memorial, whose one week stay ended with an overtime loss Saturday at Anderson.

However, the Panthers’ stay at the top could be short-lived, as Southern Indiana beat KWC Monday night in a game that didn’t factor into this week’s rankings.  Kentucky Wesleyan will spend this week as the nation’s top-ranked squad, followed by fellow Great Lakes Valley Conference rival Bellarmine at No. 2; the Knights received two of the eight first place votes this week.

West Liberty, Metropolitan State, and Tarleton State all moved up one spot to complete the top five, while Lincoln Memorial dropped to No. 6 to begin the second five that includes Southern Indiana, Winona State, Northern Kentucky and Indiana (Pa.).

Christian Brothers moved up four spots to begin the second 10 at No. 11, followed by Colorado School of Mines, Midwestern State, Hillsdale and Alabama-Huntsville.  The next five teams are Missouri Southern, St. Cloud State, Minnesota State-Moorhead, South Carolina Aiken – making its first appearance in the poll this season – and Cal Poly Pomona.

The final five teams in this week’s poll are Bowie State, Western Washington, Shaw, Seattle Pacific and Fort Hays State.  Shaw is in the national rankings for the first time since Jan. 7, 2003 as it is off to a 12-2 start on the season, including a win last week over Bowie State.
