BAY CITY, Mich. - Michigan Technological University senior forward Ali Haidar (Windsor, Ont./Foster) and Ashland University senior forward Evan Yates (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) have been chosen as the GLIAC Men's Basketball North and South Division "Players of the Week", respectively.

Michigan Technological University senior Ali Haidar set the career rebounding record at Michigan Tech at 815 with 26 combined rebounds in a pair of wins last week. The Windsor, Ontario, native scored a combined 57 points on the week, including 18-of-20 from the free throw line, and ranks third in the nation in scoring with 24.6 points per game. He ranks 15th nationally in rebounding at 9.9 per game. He currently leads the GLIAC in both scoring and rebounding.

Ashland University senior Evan Yates led Ashland to a pair of victories last week. He scored a career-high 32 points last week against Walshand posted a pair of double-doubles, giving him nine for the year. For the week, Yates averaged 22.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, and 2.5 assists per game. He shot 60 percent from the field and 83.3 from the free throw line. Thanks in large parts to Yates, AU has a season-long four-game winning streak.
