BAY CITY, Mich. - Northern Michigan University junior forward Justin Newell (Manitowoc, Wis./Roncalli) and Hillsdale College sophomore guard Tim Dezelski (Milwaukee, Wis./Rufus King) have been chosen as the GLIAC Men's Basketball North and South Division "Players of the Week", respectively.

Northern Michigan Univeristy junior forward Justin Newell led the Wildcats to their first GLIAC win of the season, scoring a career-high 27 points against Tiffin, then led NMU past Ohio Dominican with 16 points. Against Tiffin, Newell, went 8-15 from the field, 4-6 from three point range and 7-8 from the free throw line. Against Ohio Dominican Newell went 5-12 from the floor, 3-6 from three-point range and 3-3 from the free throw line. He leads the Wildcats averaging 14.1 points per game while also ranking first shooting 44.7 from three-point range.

Hillsdale College senior forward Tim Dezelski led the Chargers in scoring and rebounding in two wins on the road last week that saw the team hand both Grand Valley State and Ferris State their first conference losses of the 2013-14 season. Against the Lakers he scored 16 points and had four assists. In the win over the Bulldogs he tallied 29 points and had eight assists to lead the way. In the two games, Dezelski averaged 24 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals per game as Hillsdale improved to 7-3.
