LSSU's Williams, WSU's Lewis Capture GLIAC Honors

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced weekly men's basketball awards following the second week of conference action. Lake Superior State sophomore guard Akaemji Williams captured GLIAC North Division Player of the Week honors, while Wayne State junior forward Michael Lewis collected GLIAC South Division Player of the Week accolades.

North Division

Highlights: Scored a career high of 32 points, in 31 minutes of action, on 10-of-17 shooting from the field and 4-for-9 from behind the arc during a 90-75 victory over Malone on Thursday. Followed up on Saturday with 19 points, four rebounds, and six assists in a 67-46 win over Walsh on the road. Williams averaged 25.5 points per game on the week, hit 17-of-30 (56.7 percent) shots from the field and averaged 4.5 assists per game. Williams now averages 20 points per game, the fifth-highest mark in the GLIAC this season. The point guard from Rochester, Mich. also ranks fourth in the GLIAC with 5.0 in assists per game. Williams continues to lead the league in averages steals per game with 2.9 after producing four steals last week.

South Division
Michael Lewis Wayne State Forward Jr.

Highlights: Lewis led WSU to two victories this past week. He nearly averaged a double-double by posting 17 points and nine rebounds vs. Northern Michigan, 16 points and six boards vs. Michigan Tech. Lewis shot 64 percent from the floor, going 7-for-11 from the field in each contest.
