Hillsdale's Cooper Named D2CCA All-Midwest Region Player of the Year

KENOSHA, Wis. -- Senior forward Kyle Cooper from Hillsdale College was named the 2016 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Midwest Region Player of the Year. Cooper, who was tabbed the 2016 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Player of the Year, averaged 22.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game for the Chargers this season. The Northville, Mich. native also shot 55.9 percent (231-of-413) from the floor, 44.1 percent (52-of-118) from three point range and 86.8 percent (118-of-136) from the free throw line during his senior season.

Senior Andy Mazurczak of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, sophomore Max Strus of Lewis University, junior Wendell Davis of Ashland University and senior Devin Daly of Lake Superior State University also joined Cooper on the first team. A total of five GLIAC standouts achieved D2CCA recognition.

Mazurczak, the 2016 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Player of the Year, averaged 18.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. Strus recorded 20.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists per contest while Davis averaged 17.4 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. Daly meanwhile produced 21.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per outing.

The second team picks consist of Saginaw Valley State Universiy junior C.J. Turnage, Bellarmine University junior Rusty Troutman, University of Indianapolis senior Jordan Lloyd, Drury University senior Kameron Bundy and Walsh University senior Jesse Hardin Jr. were all named to the second team.

Turnage has averaged 17.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while Troutman averaged 18.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest. Lloyd registered 20.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per outing, Bundy put up 20.4 points and 4.0 assists per game and Hardin Jr. averaged 20.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per game on the season.
