NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Region Rankings
INDIANAPOLIS -- Five Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) men's basketball teams appeared in the first NCAA Division II Midwest Region Rankings of 2016 released on Wednesday (Feb. 17).
The GLIAC leading Saginaw Valley State University Cardinals occupy the No. 3 spot in the region to pace the conference, while Ashland sits one spot behind SVSU in the No. 4 hole. Ferris State holds down the No. 6 position with Lake Superior State obtaining the No. 8 ranking. Findlay sits one notch outside the desired Top 8 in ninth.
The Midwest Region includes schools from the GLIAC, the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). The GLVC holds the other five regional ranking positions, but the G-MAC will receive an automatic bid into the tournament despite having no teams inside the region rankings.
The 2016 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament Selection Show will take place on Sunday, March 6th at 10:30 PM on NCAA.com. The Top 8 in each region will qualify for the postseason championships.
