Saginaw Valley Earns First-Ever No. 1 Men's Basketball Ranking

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fairmont State’s impressive week – two wins over teams ranked in the top five which included one over the No. 1 team in NCAA Division II – has brought Saginaw Valley State to the top spot in the new NABC/Division II men’s basketball rankings.

The Cardinals, who are ranked atop the poll for the first time in school history, are out of the gate at 7-0 and get an immediate test, as they will face a 6-1 Ashland team on the road Thursday. Saginaw Valley is led by a pair of seniors in C.J. Turnage (16.5 ppg, 7.9 rpg) and Garrett Hall (15.3 ppg) who are determined to guide the Cardinals back to another Elite Eight appearance this season following a regional title one year ago.
