Michigan Tech's Monroe, Findlay's Sullivan Claim GLIAC Player of the Week Accolades

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly men's basketball awards following Week 10 of the 2016-17 campaign. Michigan Tech sophomore forward Kyle Monroe earned GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division honors, while Findlay junior forward Taren Sullivan captured South Division accolades for the second time this season.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Kyle Monroe, Michigan Tech

Michigan Tech sophomore forward Kyle Monore had another huge week for the Huskies, averaging 29 points per game while hitting 50 percent of his shots from the field. He also knocked down 93.3 percent of his free throw shots. Monroe notched his third double-double of the season in the victory over Lake Superior State with 21 points and 10 rebounds while scoring 37 points in the win over Northwood. On the season, Monroe leads the Huskies with 19.2 points per game while averaging 7.5 rebounds per contest.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Taren Sullivan, Findlay

Findlay junior forward Taren Sullivan led the Oilers to a pair of wins last week by averaging 21.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. Sullivan also shot 61.3 percent (19-of-31) from the floor in the victories. Sullivan began the week with 20 points, five rebounds and three assists in the Oilers 72-69 win over Ohio Dominican on Jan. 19. He closed the week with 22 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and three steals in Findlay's 81-79 victory against Lake Erie on Jan. 21. The Lima, Ohio native is stuffing the stat sheet for the Oilers this season with averages of 16.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.0 blocks per game.
