FSU's Hankins, Findlay's Kimbrough Earn GLIAC Player of the Week Honors

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly men's basketball awards following Week 14 of the 2016-17 campaign. Ferris State sophomore Zach Hankins earned GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division honors for the third time this year, while Findlay junior guard Martyce Kimbrough captured South Division accolades for the second time this season.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Zach Hankins, Ferris State

Ferris State University sophomore center Zach Hankins had a big week for the Bulldogs as FSU secured the outright GLIAC Regular-Season Championship with two home wins over Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech inside Jim Wink Arena. Hankins averaged 21 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 65% from the floor in the two wins. He tallied a game-high 29 points with 12 rebounds in a dominating interior performance on Thursday as the Bulldogs beat NMU 96-74 in Big Rapids. Against the Wildcats, he hit 10-of-17 field goals and made all nine of his free throws. Hankins came back on Saturday to post 13 points and 10 boards in another double-double effort while going five-of-six (83.3%) from the floor and three-of-four (75%) at the line in a tight 81-76 triumph over MTU to secure the title. He finished the week with 42 points, 22 rebounds, four assists, three blocks and a steal while making 15-of-23 field goals and 12-of-13 free throws.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Martyce Kimbrough, Findlay

Findlay junior guard Martyce Kimbrough led the Oilers to a pair of wins last week by averaging 35.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. He also shot 57.1 percent (24-of-42) from the floor and canned 59.3 percent (16-of-27) of his three point tries. Kimbrough began the week with a career-high 41 points in the Oilers 105-87 win over Tiffin on Feb. 16. He canned a school record 11 three pointers in the win and also chipped in three rebounds and three assists. Kimbrough then followed with 29 points and five more triples in Findlay's 85-65 win over Ashland on Feb. 18.
