LSSU's Williams, Hillsdale's Lowry Capture GLIAC Men's Basketball Honors

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the second weekend of the 2016 men's basketball season. Lake Superior State junior guard Akaemji Williams earned GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division honors, while Hillsdale junior guard Stedman Lowry captured South Division accolades.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Akaemji Williams, Lake Superior State

Lake Superior State junior Akaemji Williams poured in 36 points in a 116-107 victory over Indianapolis going 15-for-22 (68.2 percent) from the floor along with 11 assists, seven rebounds and six steals.  


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Stedman Lowry, Hillsdale

Hillsdale junior guard Stedman Lowry had the most efficient game of his career in Saturday's 89-70 win by the Chargers over the University of Indianapolis. He shot 11-for-13 from the field, including 6-for-7 from 3-point land, for a game-high 28 points. He scored 20 of those points in the first half, when Hillsdale was able to build a 15-point lead. The regional win improved the Chargers to 3-0 on the season.
