Wayne State's Booth, Walsh's Carter Earn GLIAC Men's Basketball Awards

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the third weekend of the 2016 men's basketball season. Wayne State junior guard Ronald Booth earned GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division honors, while Walsh senior guard Zac Carter captured South Division accolades.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Ronald Booth, Wayne State

Wayne State junior Ronald Booth led Wayne State to a pair of victories this past week, scoring at least 20 points in each contest. For the week, the WSU guard shot 56 percent from behind the arc (9-of-16). On Wednesday against Central State, Booth tallied 23 points including five triples and also notched five steals. In the overtime victory against Lewis, Booth led the Warriors with 22 points, powered by four three-pointers.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Zac Carter, Walsh

Walsh senior guard Zac Carter led the Cavaliers to two wins on the Thanksgiving week with a 93-74 win at Malone for the season sweep and a 103-78 win at home against Glenville State on Saturday. The senior point guard led Walsh with 27 points in each game. Against Malone, he went 9-of-17 from the field and followed up with a better performance against GSC as he shot 12-of-19. Overall he shot 58.3 percent, 21-of-36, and was 5-of-10 from 3-point range. He also helped the team in other areas with an average of four rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. On top of that, he became the 41st player in Walsh history to join the 1,000 Point Club.
