SVSU's Turnage, Walsh's Fletcher Capture GLIAC Men's Basketball Honors

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the fourth weekend of the 2016 men's basketball season and first week of league action. Saginaw Valley State senior forward C.J. Turnage earned GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division honors, while Walsh senior forward Trey Fletcher captured South Division accolades.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - C.J. Turnage, Saginaw Valley

Saginaw Valley State senior forward C.J. Turnage averaged 19.3 ppg and had 6.3 rpg in the team's 3-0 week while improving to 8-0 to begin the season for the first time since the 1984-85 season. Turnage added five steals and four blocks in the games, which included his third double-double of the season in Saturday's 86-59 win over Lake Erie. C.J. is averaging a team-high 16.5 ppg and team-best 7.9 rpg for the No. 2-ranked Cardinals. 


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Trey Fletcher, Walsh

Walsh senior forward Trey Fletcher shot the lights out in a pair of games in the Upper Peninsula as shot for an average of 59.3 percent for 19.5 points per game. At Northern Michigan, he made 8-of-13 from the field for 18 points. He added three rebounds and two assists in just 23 minutes against the Wildcats. On Saturday, he followed of with 21 points on 8-of-14 from the field, including 3-of-5 from behind the arc, with eight rebounds and helped Walsh shoot over 50 percent for the fifth-straight game.
