Ferris State's Hankins, Walsh's Carter Capture GLIAC Player of the Week Honors

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the sixth weekend of the 2016 men's basketball season. Ferris State sophomore center Zach Hankins earned GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division honors, while Walsh senior guard Zac Carter captured South Division accolades for the second time this year.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Zach Hankins, Ferris State

Ferris State University sophomore center Zach Hankins tallied 15.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 6.0 blocks per contest as the Bulldogs stretched their winning streak to three consecutive games with a pair of home wins. Hankins scored 31 points with 23 rebounds, 12 blocked shots, two steals and two assists in the two games. He netted 13 points with 13 rebounds and four blocks in FSU's 82-77 win over Ashland on Saturday before coming back with a team-high 18 points, 10 rebounds and eight blocks in Monday's 96-65 victory over Tiffin.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Zac Carter, Walsh

Walsh senior guard Zac Carter averaged 30.5 points per game in a pair of games against Northwood and Lake Superior State on the road over the weekend. Carter started off with 28 points with four 3-pointers as he went 10-of-19 from the field for 52.6 percent. He followed up with 33 points against the Lakers with four more 3-pointers. Overall he shot 48.7 percent from the field as he went 19-of-39 overall, 8-of-19 from behind the arc for 42.1 percent, and 15-of-16 from the line for 93.8 percent.
