Findlay's Sullivan, Michigan Tech's Lucca Capture GLIAC Player of the Week Honors

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly men's basketball awards following Week 8 of the 2016-17 campaign. Michigan Tech freshman guard Tommy Lucca earned GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division honors, while Findlay junior forward Taren Sullivan captured South Division accolades.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Tommy Lucca, Michigan Tech

Michigan Tech freshman guard Tommy Lucca had another big week for the Michigan Tech men's basketball team, pouring in 24 points at Ashland and 29 points at Tiffin. The 29 point total was a season and career high for Lucca who scored 20 or more points for the seventh time this season. Lucca connected on 50% of his three-point shots and was 9 for 11 at the free throw line. He also dished out 10 total assists, including seven in the win over Ashland. On the season, Lucca is averaging 18.4 points per game and leads the Huskies in assists at 4.2 apg.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Taren Sullivan, Findlay 

Findlay junior forward Taren Sullivan led the Oilers to three of wins last week by averaging 12.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 6.7 assists, 1.7 blocks and 1.3 steals per game. Sullivan began the week with 17 points and eight rebounds in the Oilers 120-67 win over Carlow on Jan. 2. He then missed a triple-double by only one rebounds in Findlay's 88-78 victory over 6th-ranked Saginaw Valley State on Jan. 5. In the win over the Cardinals, Sullivan produced ten points, a career-high ten assists and nine rebounds. Sullivan then closed the week with 11 points, six rebounds, six assists and a career-highfive blocks in Findlay's 70-64 win over Wayne State on Jan. 7.
