Northern Michigan's Johnson, Walsh's Fletcher Selected GLIAC Players of the Week

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly men's basketball awards following Week 9 of the 2016-17 campaign. Northern Michigan sophomore guard Isaiah Johnson earned GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division honors, while Walsh senior forward Trey Fletcher captured South Division accolades for the second time this season.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Isaiah Johnson, Northern Michigan

Northern Michigan sophomore guard Isaiah Johnson averaged 22.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists as the Wildcats went 2-0 on the road last week. Johnson started the week with a career-high 28 points, six rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks in a 82-76 comeback win at No. 18 Saginaw Valley. He then guided NMU to a 75-71 victory over Wayne State as he posted 17 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals. Overall, Johnson fired 56.3 percent from the floor on 18-of-32 shooting.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Trey Fletcher, Walsh

Walsh senior forward Trey Fletcher guided the Cavaliers to a 2-0 week as he averaged a 23.5 points and 13 rebounds in wins over Ohio Valley and Lake Erie. Against the Fighting Scots, he recorded career-bests with 34 points and 14 rebounds. He followed up with another double-double against Lake Erie, his sixth of the season, with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Overall, he shot 47.4 percent and was 18-of-38 from the floor, and of his 26 rebounds, nine came on the offensive end.
