GLIAC -- The matchups have been finalized for the 2018 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) men's basketball tournament. Quarterfinal action begins this Wednesday, February 28th at campus sites.

The GLIAC champion Ferris State Bulldogs (29-1, 19-1 GLIAC) enter postseason play as the No. 1 seed and will look to make it a four peat in 2018 having captured the last three league tournament titles. FSU is paced by junior center and 2017 GLIAC Player of the Year Zach Hankins who leads the league in blocks, rebounds and field goal percentage. The Bulldogs will face No. 8 Saginaw Valley (12-16, 9-11 GLIAC) as the Cardinals defeated Tiffin on the road in overtime to snag the final postseason berth.

Lake Superior State (21-6, 15-4 GLIAC) will represent the No. 2 seed and welcome the No. 7 seeded Grand Valley State (14-14, 9-11 GLIAC) to Sault Ste. Marie on Wednesday. The LSSU Lakers split with GVSU during the regular season and are paced by senior guard Akaemji Williams.

Wayne State is surging at the right time as the Warriors earned a big road win over Northern Michigan to capture the No. 3 seed. The Warriors will host No. 6 seed Michigan Tech (14-13, 11-9 GLIAC) on Wednesday as part of a Detroit GLIAC Tournament doubleheader.

The fourth quarterfinal contest will be held at Ashland University (19-9, 12-8 GLIAC) as the Eagles picked up a win over Northwood on Saturday to earn the No. 4 seed. AU earned their seeding via head-to-head tiebreaker with Northern Michigan due to an Eagle victory over the Wildcats earlier in the year. NMU (15-12, 12-8 GLIAC) will now head to Ohio as the No. 5 seed in hopes of avenging that defeat.
