Ferris State Defeats Lake Superior State in NCAA Men's Regional Semifinal

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -- The top-seeded and No. 2 nationally-ranked Ferris State Bulldogs have advanced to the Sweet 16 of the 2018 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championships after taking down a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe in Lake Superior State by a final score of 94-71 on Sunday night (March 11) in a rematch of last Sunday's GLIAC Tournament Championship contest. FSU advances to Tuesday's (March 13) Midwest Regional Championship game where they will face No. 3 seeded Findlay at 7:00 PM.

Ferris State outrebounded Lake Superior State by a 52-36 margin and dished out 20 assists to earn a runaway victory and a spot in Tuesday's Sweet 16 matchup with former GLIAC rival Findlay. FSU controlled all aspects of the contest while holding LSSU to 31.3 percent shooting and produced ten more second-chance points and points in the paint in the victory. Two-time GLIAC Player of the Year Zach Hankins led the Bulldogs with 18 points and 18 rebounds, while Jaylin McFadden came off the bench to produce 16 points and five boards for FSU. Lake State received a game-high 19 points and nine boards off the bench from Ke'Montrece Collins.
