Ferris State's King, Tiffin's Brown Earn GLIAC Men's Basketball Awards

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the third weekend of the 2017 men's basketball season. Ferris State University senior forward Noah King earned GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division honors, while Tiffin University senior Alex Brown captured South Division accolades.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Noah King, Ferris State

Ferris State University senior forward Noah King had a big week for the fifth-ranked Bulldogs as FSU stayed unbeaten with a pair of close home victories against strong competition. King averaged 14 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in wins over Olivet and #18 Findlay inside Wink Arena. He tallied 15 points and shot 55% from the floor in FSU's 99-84 triumph against the Comets on Tuesday before coming back to notch 13 points on 63% shooting with nine rebounds in Saturday's 69-68 win over the Oilers in which he scored the game-winner with only 1.1 seconds remaining. King also dished out six assists in the two games with two steals and a blocked shot while shooting 11-of-19 (58%) from the floor and 100% at the line. He knocked down three treys against the Oilers from long range to help FSU improve to a nation-best 8-0 on the year. 


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Alex Brown, Tiffin

Tiffin University senior Alex Brown became the 31st Tiffin University men's basketball player to score 1,000 or more points, doing so with a 31 point game against Indianapolis. Brown averaged 25.5 points at the Ashland Classic on November 21-22, hitting 69.0% of his field goal attempts. Alex was efficient from long distance, knocking down 70% of his three point attempts. Alex poured in 20 points in a win over Kentucky State on Tuesday, while finishing with three rebounds and three assists. Against Indianapolis, Alex was unstoppable, hitting 13 of 16 from the field and 5 of 6 from beyond arc to record a season high 31 points.Brown is also closing in on two more milestones, needing 84 rebounds to reach 500 for his career and 38 assists to reach 200.
