Davenport takes Central Michigan to the wire in exhibition action

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Panthers traveled to Central Michigan University for an exhibition against the NCAA Division I school. Davenport has played in exhibitions against NCAA Division I schools in previous years, but this one was special. Davenport lost by only five points in the game, with a good chance to win the game down the stretch. A crowd of 1,831 people saw what Davenport is capable of and there were moments that the majority of the Central Michigan faithful were silenced by the Panthers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers came out aggressive in the first half, showing the Chippewas from the get go that they weren't there to fool around. Davenport had great defensive stances throughout the half and eventually came away with a 46-44 lead after 20 minutes of play. At halftime time redshirt senior Dyllon Hudson-Emory led the Panthers with 14 points on 4/7 shooting from the field. Davenport won the battle on the boards 17-13 in the half.
 
Central Michigan came out hot from deep in the second half. The Chippewas built up a small lead, scoring 15 points in the opening four minutes of the half. Davenport clawed their way back, tying the game late. With just over three minutes to go in regulation the score was deadlocked at 82-82. The Panthers missed a couple threes and couldn not break the tie during a two-minute stretch. Central Michigan broke the tie and held on for the win down the stretch.
