WESTVILLE, Ind. – The Panthers prevailed over the Pride of Purdue Northwest to earn their first GLIAC win of the young season. Davenport and Purdue Northwest combined for 49 fouls in the game. Despite the choppy flow of the game, the Panthers were about to get out in transition to get easy buckets during the second half. Davenport outscored the Pride 28-16 in points off turnovers and 12-4 in transition points. The Panthers got big time contributions from their starting guards Avery Hudson and Janeau Joubert, who combined for 33 points while shooting 12/18 from the floor and an incredible 8/10 from three. Hudson led the Panthers in scoring, assists, and steals tonight.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half was the Panthers saw limited minutes from one of their top contributors, senior Dyllon Hudson-Emory played only five minutes in the half. Hudson-Emory picked up a foul in the fifth minute of play and then his second in the ninth minute, sending him to the bench for the remainder of the half. Despite having their best rebounder and second leading scorer, the Panthers were on top after 20 minutes in their opening GLIAC game of the season. Davenport was led by junior Robbie Bramhill, who scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds, both were game highs at the time. The Panthers shot 7/14 from three in the first half, but only 9/16 from the charity stripe. The halftime score was 46-37 in favor of Davenport.
 
The Panthers came out and took their game to another level in the second half. Davenport scored 13 points in a matter of three minutes and nine seconds to increase their lead to 20 points for the first time in the game. The run included eight points in transition and 10 points in the paint. The large lead proved to be helpful down the stretch. The Pride cut the lead down to six points multiple times with under 10 minutes to play in regulation. With 4:24 left on the clock Purdue Northwest trailed by only six points after hitting a three point shot. The Panthers needed a response on the road and the team went on a run to secure the win. Davenport scored eight consecutive points to build the lead back to 14-points with just 1:57 remaining. The Pride were too far behind to mount a legitimate comeback and Davenport earned their first conference win of the season.
