NMU's Echols and AU's Noble claim GLIAC men's basketball weekly honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced player of the week awards for Week 14 of the 2018-19 men's basketball season. Northern Michigan senior guard Naba Echols earned GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division Player of the Week honors, while Ashland junior center Drew Noble was named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Naba Echols - Northern Michigan

Senior guard Naba Echols (Memphis, Tenn.) averaged 24 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists for the Wildcats as they finished the week 1-1. During a 78-67 loss at Ferris State, he posted 26 points, and made six three pointers on the night. He followed with 22 points to help the Wildcats defeat LSSU 73-68 Saturday.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Drew Noble - Ashland

Junior center Drew Noble (Louisville, Ohio) averaged 24.5 points, eight rebounds, three assists and one block per game as the Eagles swept Purdue Northwest and Parkside last week. He shot 59 percent (19-of-32) from the field, 57 percent (4-of-7) from three-point range and 78 percent (7-of-9) from the line. Noble had 24 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal in AU's 84-56 win over the Pride last Thursday. He added a game-high 25 points to go with eight boards and two assists in a 68-64 win over Parkside on Saturday. He ranks eighth in the GLIAC in scoring (17.0 points per game) and is fourth in field goals made (156) and free throws made (100).
