GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced player of the week awards for Week Three of the 2018-19 men's basketball season. Northern Michigan forward Isiah Johnson earned GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division honors, while Davenport sophomore Avery Hudson captured South Division accolades.
NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Isiah Johnson - Northern Michigan
Johnson averaged 22 points and 4.5 rebounds per game to help lead Northern Michigan to an 89-74 victory over Ohio Dominican and an 80-68 win at Hillsdale. He shot 75 percent from the field, going 15-of-20, and 50 percent from the three-point line (3-of-6). He also finished 11-of-12 at the free-throw line.
SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Avery Hudson - Davenport
Hudson was named most-valuable player of the Daytona Mitsubishi/Kia Tournament hosted by Embry-Riddle. He tied a tournament record with 11 assists during a 107-81 win at Lees-McRae. He recorded two double doubles with 23 points and 11 rebounds against Great Lakes Christian and 18 points and 11 assists against Lees-McRae. For the week Hudson averaged 21 points, 7.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He shot 72.7 percent from the field, 80 percent from three-point range (12-of-15) and made 3-of-6 free throws.
