MTU's Lucca, NU's McBride Named Men's Basketball Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following week two 2019-20 men's basketball season. Michigan Tech senior guard Tommy Lucca earned GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division Player of the Week honors, while Northwood senior guard Trey McBride was named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tommy Lucca - Michigan Tech 

Tommy Lucca had a huge game for the Huskies, pouring in a career high 34 points against Minnesota Duluth on Saturday. Lucca's previous single game career high was 29 points, set at Lake Superior State on February 4, 2017. Lucca connected on 12 of 19 attempts from the field (63.2%), went 3 for 6 from behind the three-point arc (50.0%) and was a perfect 7 for 7 at the free throw line (100.0%). Lucca also had big numbers in terms of rebounds with seven and had eight assists to go along with a pair of steals. His rebounds total also matched a single game career high. Lucca is averaging 15.3 points per game this season while contributing 5.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists each time he takes the floor.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Trey McBride - Northwood

Trey McBride led Northwood to a pair of non-conference wins last week, averaging 23.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.5 blocks and 2.0 steals per game. He ended the week shooting 64.3 percent from the floor in the two victories (18-26). In the Timberwolves win over #17 Findlay, McBride had 24 points, five rebounds and three blocked shots. Then in NU's win at Malone, McBride had 22 points, seven rebounds, six assists and four steals.
