Malone in First Place After Round 1 of the 2013 GLIAC Men's Golf Championship

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Malone University sits in first place after the first round of the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Golf Championship. The tournament is being played at the Eagle Eye Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich.

The Pioneers shot a five-over-par round of 293 at Eagle Eye to take a three-stroke lead into day two of the tournament.  Ohio Dominican University finished the first round in second place after shooting an eight-over-par round of 296.  Two-time defending champion Grand Valley State University recorded an opening round 299, sitting in third place, six shots back of Malone.

Saginaw Valley State University's Wyatt Drost carded the low round of the day with a two-under-par 70.  Northern Michigan University's Ayrton Mantha sits in second place after shooting a one-under-par 70. Seven players shot even par on the day and reside in a tie for third place.

The second round of the 2013 GLIAC Men's Golf Championship will take place on Sunday at Eagle Eye.  Tee times begin at 10:00 a.m.

The tournament will conclude with third-round play Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m.
