Dragons, Lakers Positioned Well At NCAA Divsion II Super Regionals

NCAA Division II Men's Golf Midwest/Central Super Regional

CANTON, Ohio -- The Tiffin Dragons and Grand Valley State Lakers sit third and fourth, respectively, after two days at the 2017 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Midwest/Central Super Regional hosted at Awarii Dunes in Axtell, Nebraska. Scoring conditions have been perfect with lows winds this week as 52 of the 108 players in the field finished up 36 holes under par. Central Missouri leads the team competition at a sizzling 26-under par for 36 holes.

Tiffin jumped up eight spots in the second round into solo third place after shooting a 12-under par round of 276 and sit at 16-under par for the tournament. TU posted rounds of 67 (-5) from Jay Green, 69 (-3) from Tomas Krivanec, another 69 (-3) from Jordan Bollenbacher and a 1-under par round of 71 from Brett Green. Tyler Schepens fired even-par 72 to put all five players at par-or-better for the day.

Grand Valley State remained in fourth place after idential team scores of 7-under par on each of the first two days to sit at 14-under par for the regional. Domenic Mancinelli leads the Lakers in a tie for sixth place individually at 9-under par for the week, including an impressive 6-under par round of 66, which included a pair of eagles. Owen Rush carded a 1-under par round of 71 on Tuesday despite making a double bogey on his final hole, while Alex Scott and Bryce Messner each notched even-par rounds of 72.

The Ferris State Bulldogs are in eighth place after two rounds of action with Jack Weller sitting 15th at 5-under par for 36 holes after a 1-under par round of 71. Teammates Ben Cook and Andrew Hammett also fired 71s on day two as Ryan Bayer posted 2-under par 70 on Tuesday to lead the Bulldogs. FSU, who shot 5-under par on the day, also put all five guys at par or better when Seth Terpstra posted 72.

Wayne State found it tough to gain ground in the ideal scoring conditions despite firing 7-under par for the day to sit at 8-under par for the tournament in 12th place. Joe Biscaro posted 4-under 68 on Tuesday with GLIAC Freshman of the Year Brendan Seys carding 3-under par 69. Brett Boes was also under par in round two with a 1-under par 71.

Saginaw Valley dropped back on Tuesday after an opening round of 8-under par to shoot 2-over par and sit in 13th place after 36 holes. SVSU's week is highlighted by Austin Carter who sits tied-for-tenth at 7-under par following a 2-under par round of 70 on Tuesday.

Individually, Hillsdale's Joe Pietila sits T26th at 3-under par overall after rounds of 74 and 5-under par 67.
