GLIAC Earns Eight 2017 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars

NORMAN, Okla. – Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for Divisions I, II and the NAIA have been announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Overall, eight Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) men's golfers earned this high distinction.

A new record number of student-athletes earned All-America Scholar status including 109 in Division II. Tiffin gained four honorees, including Jordan Bollenbacher, Brett Green, Jay Green and Tyler Schpens. 2017 GLIAC Golf Player of the Year Ben Cook from Ferris State achieved All-America Scholar status after a fine season which finished with a trip to the national match play quarterfinals. Saginaw Valley's Ryan Peruski, Northwood's Matt Garland and Ashland's Chandler Walnsch rounded out the conference honorees.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 78.0 in Division II, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
