GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the sixth week of tournaments. Ashland sophomore Hannah Lemons claimed top honors in women's action, while Ferris State University senior men's golfer Andrew Hammett earned accolades on the men's side.

MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Andrew Hammett - Ferris State

Ferris State University senior men's golfer Andrew Hammett captured the 2018 Titans Motown Collegiate Championship, which took place at Prestwick Village Golf Club in Highland, Mich. Hammett led the Bulldogs to a third-place team finish by wrapping up action in the three-round event on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 15-16) atop the leaderboard. He shot six-under for the tournament at 210 overall with a round of 72 followed by a 66 and another 72 score for a two-shot victory. Hammett became the third different FSU senior golfer to capture individual medalist honors this year in a tournament with the win on the par 72 course measuring 7,042 yards.

WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Hannah Lemons - Ashland

A tied-for-third-place finish at the Kentucky Wesleyan Invitational has led to an award for Ashland University sophomore women’s golfer Hannah Lemons.

As announced by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on Wednesday (Oct. 17), Lemons has earned her first GLIAC Women’s Golfer of the Week award. On Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 13-14) at Kentucky Wesleyan, Lemons finished in the top five individually for the second time this fall after carding 78-73—151. Her round of 73 was a season-low, and one stroke off her collegiate low of 72 last fall at the Gilda’s Club Laker Fall Invite. Lemons was an All-GLIAC honorable mention selection as a freshman in 2017-18.

Ashland’s women’s golf team will finish the 2018 fall season on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 22-23) at the Music City Invitational in Nashville, Tenn.
