Davenport's Meloche, Ferris State's Terpstra Earn GLIAC Golfer of the Week Accolades

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the second week of tournaments to kickoff the 2018-19 season. Ferris State senior Seth Terpstra claimed top honors in men's action, while Davenport freshman Hannah Meloche earned accolades on the women's side.


WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Hannah Meloche - Davenport

Davenport University freshman Hannah Meloche had a historic start to her collegiate career. Meloche became the individual champion at the SVSU Fall Invitational, shooting a 73 over both rounds for a total score of 146 (+2). She beat out 48 other golfers in the process during the first tournament of her career. In addition, her score of 146 broke the school record for the lowest 36-hole score. Furthermore, the team score of 633 for Davenport set the program record lowest 36-hole team score. Meloche led the Panthers to a fourth-place finish in the tournament.


MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Seth Terpstra - Ferris State

Ferris State University senior men's golfer Seth Terpstra notched his first career victory last weekend as he won a playoff for medalist honors at the 2018 GLIAC North Invitational hosted by the Bulldogs at FSU's Katke Golf Course. Terpstra shot back-to-back 71's in the Bulldogs' home event and edged out Grand Valley State's Mitchell White in a one-hole playoff for the win. His performance helped FSU finish as the runner-up in the field.
