UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Fourth-seeded Tiffin University downed third-seeded Northwood University on penalty kicks to claim the 2011 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) men's soccer tournament title, played Saturday (Nov. 5) at the Saginaw Valley State University Soccer Complex.

Tiffin University must love playing in the GLIAC Tournament.
For the third time in the last four seasons, the Dragons won the
GLIAC Tournament Championship, this time outlasting Northwood 2-2
after two overtimes and winning 3-2 on penalty kicks in a dramatic
conclusion to the tourney.
TU (10-5-4) had the lead twice in regulation but the Timberwolves
refused to die. Ashton
Campbell scored twice, first in the 52nd minute after a
scoreless first half, then again in the 74th minute. Both scores
came on passes from Edison
Benda.
Northwood's goals came from Joey Censoni in the 62nd minute and
then from Brent Schmid in the 78th minute.
Shots were even at 13-13 while corner kicks were also even at 7-7.
Northwood held a 2-0 shot edge in the first overtime while TU had a
2-1 edge in the second overtime before it went to penalty
kicks.
Northwood missed its first two PK attempts, while Michael
O'Neill and Campbell gave TU a 2-0 lead to start. Northwood got
on the board with their third shot, but Daniel
Agosta made it 3-1 as the Dragons closed in on the win.
Northwood scored on their fourth shot to make it 3-2, and the door
briefly opened for the Timberwolves when Nick Kutch
missed his penalty kick. But TU's Jeremy
Ashley made a huge save on Northwood's final shot to secure the
championship for the Dragons.
Overall Ashley had 5 saves in the game over 110 minutes.
