KANSAS CITY - The Saginaw Valley State University and Notre Dame College men's soccer teams were selected to compete in the NCAA Division II Tournament. 

The Rockhurst University men's soccer team will host the first and second-round in the NCAA Tournament this weekend. Rockhurst was named the No. 1 seed in the Midwest Region

The Cardinals wrapped up the No. 2 seed and will take on No. 3 seeded Quincy University in the second round on Sunday (Nov. 11) at the SVSU Soccer Complex starting at 1:00 PM.

The other teams joining the Cardinals are the No. 4 seed Notre Dame College and No. 5 Drury University who battle for the right to play top-seeded Rockhurst in the Second Round.

The Cardinals claimed their second consecutive GLIAC Men's Soccer Championship this season as well as their first ever GLIAC Men's Soccer Tournament Championship. Senior defender Zach Myers (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Forest Hills Eastern HS) was named GLIAC "Offensive Player of the Year," while head coach Cale Wassermann was tabbed as GLIAC "Coach of the Year" for the second straight season.

The Saginaw Valley defensive unit increased their shutout streak against Division II opponents to nine straight after last weekend's triumphant tournament run. The Cardinals also extended their unbeaten streak to 11 games. All-GLIAC First Teamer Jason Wise (Troy, Mich.) has been vital in net for SVSU as he has posted a 0.72 goals against average which puts him in the top 25 nationally.

The Lads in Blue & White are once again the first into the pool.  On Monday evening, the Notre Dame Men's Soccer program learned that it would be the first team to represent the College on a national stage in an NCAA competition.  That news goes part and parcel with the Falcons being selected for an at-large berth in the 2012 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer National Championship Tournament.

In its first season as full-fledged members of NCAA-II, Notre Dame has thus far gone 14-5.  And now, with McBride and Nolan still at the helm, the program that owns an .806 winning percentage (129-28-8) since 2007 is set to once again become a Falcon first.  NDC is headed into the 36-team NCAA-II national tournament brackets.  And they become the first Notre Dame team to vie for an NCAA banner.

The Falcons are slated to take on the Panthers of Drury University (Mo.) on Friday at 7 p.m. ET at the Bourke Athletic Field in Kansas City, Mo.  Notre Dame and Drury (12-4-2) are the four- and five-seeds, respectively, in a region that includes Rockhurst (Mo.) -- a 15-2-2 squad ranked No. 5 in the nation (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) -- and Saginaw Valley State (Mich.) -- the team that edged the Falcons in a 1-0 duel for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title on Sunday.  The NDC-DU first-round game will mark the beginning of a hectic weekend for the team that wins -- Friday's match is being hosted at Rockhurst University, with the winner set to advance and play Rockhurst on Sunday.
