Nine GLIAC Player Named To 2013 Daktonics NCAA Division II Men's Soccer All-Midwest Region Teams.

Rockhurst’s Magee Headlines 2013 Daktronics All-Midwest Region Men’s Soccer Teams

Four schools place four players on all-region squads

QUINCY, Ill. – Rockhurst University senior forward Mark Magee has been named the Daktronics, Inc. Midwest Region Men’s Soccer Player of the Year for the third consecutive season. The Player of the Year award and the All-Midwest Region teams are selected by the region’s sports information directors.

Magee, a native of Evesham, England, leads the Great Lakes Valley Conference in goals (15) and points (36) and is tied for fifth in the conference in assists (six). The Hawks defeated top-ranked Lindenwood, 1-0, on Sunday (Nov. 24) to advance to the NCAA Final Four to be played next week and won the 2013 GLVC Men’s Soccer Tournament Championship. Magee was recently named to the All-GLVC first team and was the league’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2012. Magee was a consensus All-American the last two seasons, earning second team All-America honors from Daktronics and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America last season.

Joining Magee on the Daktronics All-Midwest Region first team are Alderson-Broaddus’ Jose Noriega (MF); Davis & Elkins’ James Pucci (F); Indianapolis’ Ngwese Ebangwese (F); Lewis’ Alec Pickett (GK) and Michael Pyle (D); Ohio Dominican’s Brent Wahle (MF); Quincy’s Ethan Venvertloh (F), Xhovani Dokaj (MF), Steve McAnany (MF) and Chris Garavaglia (D); Saginaw Valley State’s Michael Lamb (D); and Tiffin’s Smart Osalador (D).

The all-region second team is comprised of Cedarville’s Connor Gilmour (F); Indianapolis’ Roger Lee (MF); Lewis’ Kyle Collins (D); Ohio Dominican’s Jakob Szabo (MF), Duncan Campbell (D) and Billy McGlone (D); Quincy’s Jordan Roberts (F); Rockhurst’s Ryan Bass (GK), Paolo Scoppola (MF) and George Skevington (D); and Saginaw Valley State’s Tyler Channell (F), Jordan Kalk (F) and Lachlan Savage (MF).

The 13 all-region first team selections will now be placed on the national ballot for All-America consideration. The All-America teams will be released Wednesday, Dec. 4. The complete Daktronics All-Midwest Region teams follow.
