Davenport's Shrimpton, Saginaw Valley's Keane Collect GLIAC Men's Soccer Weekly Honors

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 1 of the 2017 men's soccer season. Davenport junior forward Brogan Shrimpton earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Saginaw Valley sophomore goalkeeper Connor Keane claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Brogan Shrimpton, Davenport

Davenport junior forward Brogan Shrimpton had a big week for Davenport with his first career hat trick in the win over Missouri-St. Louis. Shrimpton also posted a career-high with seven points (3 goals, one assist) versus the Tritons in a 5-1 victory on Thursday. He then scored a goal in the 4-3 overtime loss at Bellarmine on Saturday to finish with nine points on the week.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Connor Keane, Saginaw Valley

Saginaw Valley sophomore goalkeeper Connor Keane has registered a 2-0 record to begin the season for the No. 19 Cardinals, notching regional wins over Quincy and Truman State. Keane notched his first clean sheet in Sunday's win over Truman, stopping the only shot on goal in his 90 minutes between the posts. He stopped three shots on goal in Friday's win over Quincy as well, allowing a single goal.
