Northern Michigan's Olpin, Parkside's Gonzalez Land GLIAC Men's Soccer Weekly Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the third week of the 2018 men's soccer season. Northern Michigan midfielder Callum Olpin earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Parkside junior goalkeeper Juan Gonzalez claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Callum Olpin - Northern Michigan

Northern Michigan midfielder Callum Olpin notched his first career-multi goal game in Sunday's 5-0 victory over Purdue Northwest on Sunday. Olpin recorded one goal and one assist in Friday's 2-1 victory over Davenport at home. He posted the game-winning goal in both matches and all four of his shots taken over the weekend were on-goal.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Juan Gonzalez - Parkside

Parkside junior goalkeeper Juan Gonzalez posted a pair of shutouts to open GLIAC play as the Rangers recorded road victories over No. 22 Saginaw Valley (1-0) and Ashland (2-0). Gonzalez made eight saves to defeat the Cardinals on Friday before nine saves preserved the shutout over the Eagles on Sunday.
