Northwood's Doyle, Parkside's Bruer Collect GLIAC Men's Soccer Weekly Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the first week of the 2019 men's soccer season. Northwood junior midfielder Jack Doyle earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Parkside freshman midfielder Henry Bruer claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jack Doyle - Northwood

Jack Doyle had two goals and an assist in a pair of Northwood games last week. In the Timberwolves 3-2 win over Truman, Doyle scored NU’s opening goal of the season. He then had a goal and an assist in NU’s 3-3 draw against Southern Indiana. Doyle currently leads Northwood in goals and points.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Henry Bruer - Parkside

Parkside sophomore defender Henry Bruer has been named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for week 1. Bruer played a large part in leading the Rangers to a 1-1 record on the week. In Parkside’s first game of the week against Quincy, he made an outstanding goal line clearance on what was sure to be the game-tying goal, helping the Rangers pull out the victory. Bruer also played well defensively against Lewis, helping to hold them goalless for over 105 minutes, until a Flyers player slotted home a free kick in the second overtime.
