SVSU's Monney and PNW's Hooper honored with men's soccer player of the week awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 4 of the 2022 men's soccer season. Saginaw Valley State sophomore forward Jonathan Monney was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for the third consecutive week. Purdue Northwest senior defender Harrison Hooper was honored as GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jonathan Monney, Saginaw Valley State

For the third straight week, Jonathan Monney has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for Saginaw Valley State University men’s soccer. Monney scored a goal in each game for the No. 9 Cardinal’s last week in two 3-0 wins for SVSU at home. Monney leads NCAA DII in goals this season with 10. The Kitchener, Ont., native added two assists for SVSU, which sits at 7-0-1 overall and a perfect 4-0-0 in the GLIAC.  


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Harrison Hooper, Purdue Northwest 

Purdue Northwest defender Harrison Hooper played a key role in earning two clean sheets last weekend in a pair of 1-0 wins against previously-undefeated opponents in conference play, including nationally-ranked Parkside (No. 17). He also scored the game-winning goal against Parkside.
