BAY CITY, Mich. - Wayne State University sophomore Carol Azambuja (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Objetivo) and Grand Valley State University freshman Milan Medo (Bratislava, Slovakia/St. Vincent De Paul) were named Great Lake Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving "Athletes of the Week," respectively, for their efforts last weekend.

Sophomore Carol Azambuja came away from last Saturday's dual meet at Oakland University with two NCAA “B” qualifiers, winning both the 100 (51.53) and 200 (1:52.72) freestyle swims. She also swam the butterfly leg of the second-place 200 medley relay and anchored the second-place 400 freestyle relay.

Grand Valley State freshman Milan Medo captured first-place finishes in each of his five swims last weekend as the Lakers claimed victories over Calvin College (162-78) and Ashland (154-88). Medo touched the wall first in the 50 free (21:09) and 100 free (46.49) Friday vs. Calvin, followed by wins in the 200 IM (1:53.82), 100 free (46.62) and the last leg of the first-place finishing 200 medley relay team (1:34.30).
