Wayne State Leads the 2013 GLIAC Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships After Day 1

CANTON, Ohio - The Wayne State University men's and women's swimming & diving teams are in the lead after the first day of competition at the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Swimming & Diving Championships hosted by Ashland University at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton, Ohio.

The Wayne State women's team recorded 113 points on the first day of the event, holding a two-point advantange over the University of Indianapolis (111 points).  Hillsdale College is currently in third place with 84 points.  The Warriors took first place in the 200-yard medley relay, while placing second in the 800-yard freestyle relay.  Individually, sophomore Kaylee Dolinski finished third in the 1000-yard freestyle event.

The WSU men's team posted 165 points on Day 1, holding a 15-point advantage over second place Grand Valley State University (150 points).  The University of Indianapolis sits in third place in the men's standings with 119 points.  The Warriors placed first in the 800-yard freestyle relay and second behind GVSU in the 200-yard medley relay.  Individually, sophomore Dylan Szegedi placed second in the men's 3-meter diving event.

Competition resumes on day 2 of the Championships on Thursday morning with the preliminary events at 10:30 a.m.  Thursday's finals will begin at 5:30 p.m.
