CANTON, Ohio - The Wayne State University men's and women's swimming & diving teams maintained their leads after the third day of competition at the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Swimming & Diving Championships hosted by Ashland University at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton, Ohio.

The Wayne State women's team has recorded 560.5 points through the first three days of the event, holding a 165-point advantange over the University of Indianapolis (395.5 points). Northern Michigan University is currently in third place with 351 points. The Warriors held on to first place on the strength of some impressive individual performances. Junior Kayla Scott set pool and meet records while recording an NCAA A-cut in the 100-yard breastroke, recordig a winning time of 1:02.76. WSU junior Carol Azambuja recorded an NCAA A-cut time of 56.47 while placing first in the 100-yard backstroke.
The WSU men's team has posted 570 points through the first two days of the event, holding a 72-point advantage over second place Grand Valley State University (498 points). The University of Indianapolis sits in third place in the men's standings with 428 points. The Warriors got a first place finish from junior Kristian Larsen in the 200-yard freestyle (1:38.42), while sophomore Piotr Jachowicz recorded an NCAA A-cut time in the 100-yard breastroke (53:76).
Competition resumes on day 3 of the Championships on Saturday morning with the preliminary events at 10:30 a.m. Saturday's finals will begin at 5:30 p.m.
