GVSU's Wiercinski and UIndy's Offutt Named GLIAC Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving "Athletes of the Week," respectively

BAY CITY, Mich. - Grand Valley State University freshman Taylor Wiercinski (Walker, Mich./Kenowa Hills) and sophomore Tyler Offutt (Evansville, Ind./Reitz) were named Great Lake Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving "Athletes of the Week," respectively, for their efforts last weekend.

Taylor Wiercinski - Grand Valley State University
freshman - Walker, Mich./Kenowa Hills

Grand Valley State University freshman Taylor Wiercinski (Walker, Mich./Kenowa Hills) earned GLIAC "Athlete of the Week" honors after her performance versus Indianapolis. Wiercinski finished first and set a GVSU pool record on the 3-meter board with a score of 298.20, while finishing second on the 1-meter board with a score of 280.88. Taylor has qualified for the NCAA Championships on both the 1 and 3-meter board.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 GLIAC Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week:
 

 

Tyler Offutt - University of Indianapolis
sophomore - (Evansville, Ind./Reitz)


University of Indianapolis sophomore Tyler Offutt had his best diving day of the season by setting season highs in scoring on both boards against Grand Valley State on Saturday. He scored 298.73 points to win the three meter and earn a NCAA "A" cut. He also earned an "A" cut by scoring 293.40 points to win on the one meter board. This is the second time this season that Offutt has been honored by the GLIAC and the third time in his career.
