AU's Bush and UI's Barbosa Named GLIAC Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving "Athletes of the Week," respectively

BAY CITY, Mich. - Ashland University senior Julie Wildmann (Littleton, Colo./Heritage) and University of Indianapolis junior  Bruno Barbosa (Sao Paulo, Brazil) were named Great Lake Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving "Athletes of the Week," respectively, for their efforts last weekend.

Julie Wildmann - Ashland University
Senior  - Littleton, Colo./Heritage

Ashland University senior Julie Wildmann opened the season last Friday against Findlay and Widmann claiming four gold medals. She was first in the 50 freestyle (23.55) and 200 backstroke (2:09.64). She  also on two first place relays – the 200 free relay (1:37.32) and 200 medley relay (1:46.75). Ashland defeated the Oilers, 154-137.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

GLIAC Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week:
 

 

Bruno Barbaso - University of Indianapolis
Junior - Sao Paulo, Brazil

University of Indianapolis junior Bruno Barbosa (Sao Paulo, Brazil) led UIndy men's swimming and diving to victory against NAIA top 10 Asbury (Ky.) in a dual meet on Saturday. Barbosa won the 200 freestyle in 1:42.26, while taking second in the 100 backstroke in 52.45. He also swam the lead leg for the unscored UIndy 200 free relay that tallied the fastest time in the event of 1:26.51.
