WS's Kortman and LE's Cizmar Named GLIAC Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving "Athletes of the Week," respectively

BAY CITY, Mich. - Wayne State University junior Paige Kortman (Holland, Mich.) and Lake Erie College sophomore Ivan Cizmar (Zagreb, Croatia) were named Great Lake Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving "Athletes of the Week," respectively, for their efforts last weekend.

 

GLIAC Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week:

 

 

Paige Kortman - Wayne State University
Junior  - Holland, Mich.

Wayne State University junior Paige Kortman (Holland, Mich.), a four-time All-American diver, earned two "A" cuts at last weekend's Clarion Invitational.  Kortman won the three-meter competition on Saturday with a score of 280.00 and finished third on the one-meter board (260.15).  On Sunday with the addition of Division I divers from Youngstown State, Kortman placed fifth on the one-meter (252.60) and sixth on the three-meter (254.15).

 

 

 

 

 

 GLIAC Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week:
 

 

Ivan Cizmar - Lake Erie College
Sophomore - Zagreb, Croatia

Lake Erie College sophomore Ivan Cizmar won three individual events-100 Back (52.44), 200 back (1:50.44), 200 IM (1:55.41) on Friday (Oct. 19) at Gannon University to help the men's team win their first meet of the season. He also helped his relay team win the  200 medley relay.  His time in the 200 back currently the top time in NCAA Division II this season and his 200 IM time is currently the third fastest. On Saturday (Oct. 20), Cizmar led the charge for the men in a win against Urbana University, once again winning three individual events-200 back (1:52.82), 200 IM (1:57.35), 200 fly (1:54.58) - and leading his relay team to victory in the 200 medley.  His time in the 200 fly set a new Lake Erie College record.
